FINALLY...a break through in potty training. Tee made a feeding/potty schedule last night and she has gone outside 5 out of 6 times!
I know this seems trivial, but we have been told over and over again since we got Sadie that Yorkies are the toughest breed to housetrain. So we are proud parents.

First Trip to the Vet
At 10 weeks we took Lady Sadie to the vet today. She received two booster shots in the shoulders, one up the nose (for some sort of dog cough), and a dewormer. The vet said she is super healthy: right weight(3lbs), good heart beat, good temperature (100 degrees for doggies!), and she couldn't really get resperatory evaluation because she wouldn't stop sniffing:-) The only problem was she had ear mites, which only took a little cleaning and a one time dose of earmite meds, which Tee and I looked at under a microscope- totally cool- however glad Sadie is gonna be ear mite free! Right now Sadie is a lot a bit sore and has been a little bit lethargic, but no allergic reactions. Wewill have to take her back for some more boosters in 3 weeks...well back to my baby!

Sadie's First Walk

Bag Lady Sadie
Today Sadie ventured into her toy bag. I didn't see it happen, but Tee caught it on camera. She usually growls at it and sometimes will carry it around the room. Tee said she was running all around it like she couldn't find her way out, and then poked her head out like"haven't you been looking for me?"

Hair Trim
Tee and I gained up on Sadie to give her a hair trim. We buzzed some stuff around her eyes, potty area, and paws. She hates the buzzer. After, we had to vaccume up everything and this was her second encounter with the vaccume. She is still pretty skiddish around it, but got brave enough to come peak into the bathroom and then scurry away. She is now sleeping on my lap after her busy day of hair cuts...and a few hours with Aunt Jenna- whom Sadie probably thinks is her second mom:-)!

Car Shopping Sadie
Sadie has been a trooper going to all of the car dealerships with Tee and me. She would just ride along and got so many compliments about how well behaved she was. This is after I bought my new used CR-V:-) She was happy to eat the paperwork!

Crate Training
So we have been trying to crate train. Quite unsucessfully. She loves the turkey we put in there, and she actually doesn't mind the crate so much. The problem is me. I hate to leave her in there. This is Sadie trying to find the last piece of turkey.

Sadie learnin how to fetch
Today I tried to do a little puppy training on my lunch break...I got a little bit of turkey as a bribe, and we played fetch. The problem was she was more focused on the treat than what she had to do to get the treat. I would have to get her riled up about the giraffe so she wouldn't be so worried about the treat and then throw it. Of course she would chase after it, most of the time, but bringing it back only happened 1 out of 3. I think the only thing anyone learned was that I now know Sadie loves turkey.

Basketball Sadie
Yesterday Sadie and I went to watch Tee play basketball on his intermural team. She was a little scared at all of the whistles and balls bouncing, but cheered Tee on when he hit a half-court shot!

Michelle and Randall come to Visit Sadie
Randall is one of Tee's friends from law school ( Michelle is his wife). Both avid dog lovers ( and pretty much the inspiration of going ahead and getting Sadie before getting married), came to meet the new pup. Sadie loved them! She fell asleep and Randall's feet and tried to eat Michelle's hair. She also gave them a little Beastie show and humped Mr. Pig for the first time ever. "She's so young!" was how they responded. Agreed. Right now she is tuckered out snoozin' under the table.

Napping
Welcome!
I just have to share some of the adventures that I have already gone through with my (and Tee's) new Yorkshire Terrier (yorkie), Lady Sadie. We got her Friday January 30, 2009. This is going to be a little bit longer than the rest of the posts because I am going to try and play catch up from the last few days!
Picking Her Out
We had picked her out two weeks earlier after we had contacted Johnny Fields with Klee Kennels. I was really hoping to get a puppy in which both parents were black and tan, and that is exactly what he had!We picked out Sadie based on the fact that she was the quietest one ( I have a history of doing this with, Penny, my Golden Retriever, and a hamster- hamster died the next day). Sadie was also the only one with a little white on one of her feet, which for some reason I really liked.
So now we have had her since Friday, and I have a hard time parting myself with her. On Sunday we decided to go to the grocery store for Super Bowl goodies, and Tee practically had to drag me out of the house. The whole time at the grocery store I was in a complete panic that I had made her cage too small...when we got home she was sound asleep.
Housetraining
The few weeks before we got Sadie, we were told many stories about the struggles of housetraining. One lady told me that she had four yorkies and said that her record of house training them was 8 months. Yikes. The first Saturday with Sadie, she only had two accidents on the carpet and the rest of the time she was going on the newspaper! Well that was the only day that happened. Until TODAY! She went outside 4 times! It was a real breakthrough and I am ecstatic! The picture of the poopy is her first one with us:-) Gross I know, but I had to.
First Bath
Sadie got her first bath today in my bathroom sink. She was not rally pleased with me. Then I tried to blow dry her. Really didn't happen. I wrapped her up in a nice warm towel where she continued to shiver for the next two hours:-( But she was had the cutest curls on her rear after she dried! I also in Idiot's Guide for Yorkies that you are suppose to wash yorkies once a week to prevent matts- compared to once ever 1-3 months for goldens, that is a lot! Thank goodness for my Petsmart bathing skills....
