I feel the earth move...

I was in the middle of doing a watercolor demonstration when one of my students shouts "WHAT IS THAT? AN EARTHQUAKE?" Everyone went silent immediately and sure enough everything was shaking. I hustled them out of my room into the hall preparing for a tornado drill.

Great. Job. Mrs. Jackson.

Well, the teachers on either side of me didn't even realize it happened, so I took my kids back in the room, explained we probably should have gotten under our tables, and continued my lesson. Pretty exciting, huh?

My mom called half an hour later to tell me that my brother and dad, who work in DC, were evacuated because it was swaying buildings.

Obsession: Navy and White

I am loving me some navy blue and white lately. I have ALWAYS worn both colors as staples in my wardrobe. This summer I rediscovered the wonderful combination, even if its white jeans and a navy blue tee- it always looks fresh. Here are some of fun finds from the net.

Take me out...

...to the ball game!
Impromptu date night to a minor league game, and I am super excited for some reason.

Maybe its because I have been wanting jean shorts for a while but haven't been able to drop $40+ to buy them. On my way home from work I was hit by a moment of brilliance: My favorite jeans that I never wear because the bottoms are so torn up can be cut to shorts!

(ignore my messy room)
I cut those babies up and now I have JORTS! I LOVE them! Why didn't I think of this earlier?

aren't baseballs weird?

The Office- sorta

Wait...this is a design blog?
So I am pretty sure I haven't posted anything about my house in... forever. And to be honest, I haven't shared most of the rooms I finished months ago. Why? Well partly because I had a new camera, partly because my life has been CRAZY, and partly because I was lazy. But today I am going to share part of my office with you. Why part- you ask? Because I am only happy with part of it. In fact now that... ummm... 8 months has past since I painted it, me and my husband wish we had chosen a different color. Mehh, I took a chance on a warm color, should have known better:-) This is also the first set of pics I took with my brand new camera so bear with me on the random photography!

this is a chess set my older brother bought us for our wedding from Iraq

he is an avid chess player, and it means a lot to me

its on display in our guest room

I can't believe I haven't taken a picture of the office desk as a whole...oops!
Guess you have something to look forward to!

Romantic Wedding Hair

Today,  I was scoping out one of my favorite reads {A Blonde Ambition}  in which Leslie,
the author,  is getting married next month.
Her post today caught my attention
a.) because it was about hair
b.) it was about wedding hair and
c.) it was about blonde wedding hair.

I know. I know.  I JUST posted pics about my wedding, but I don't feel as though I got enough hair shots in, so here are a few more:-) Leslie is looking for a down do, and I think it would look gorgeous on her, however I got married in a Virginia hot July, and my hair turns to frizz so I had to do an up do. I went to my stylist with probably 25 pictures of which I wanted a tiny piece from each one. She looked at them for a minute and said "I gotchya." The day of my trial hair, I was THRILLED, but on the day of my wedding my it was even better! I planned on taking my veil out during the reception, which was brilliant because the hugs after the ceremony were yanking my neck back:-) I ordered the flower from a shop on Etsy, and I am sad to say I can't remember the name!!!

Anyone else have wedding hair to share???
